Psychological support on the frontlines: How mobile teams support families with children
In the frontline areas of Donetsk, mobile teams continue to provide essential psychological support to children and their families, offering ongoing assistance during these challenging times.
Recently, as part of the project, Hibuki-therapy groups reached over 40 children from Kramatorsk and the villages of Cherkaske, Pryvillia, and Serhiivka. Together with specialists, children are learning breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and methods to manage stress. Art therapy and elements of socio-emotional education allow them to express emotions and tap into inner resources for recovery. A unique component is the therapeutic Hibuki toy, given to each child, which serves as a symbol of comfort and a source of security.
Psychologists also hold sessions for parents, helping them better understand their children’s needs, create emotionally stable environments, and address psychological and educational challenges brought on by the war.
Thanks to the work of mobile teams in Donetsk, we not only respond to urgent needs but also lay a foundation for resilience and growth for every child and family. This collaborative effort sustains communities even in the most difficult times.
The work of these mobile teams is part of the project, “Strengthening Community Capacity in Providing Essential Protection and Resilience Services in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia Regions,” implemented by the NGO “Responsible Citizens” with support from UNICEF and funding from USAID.
If you or your child need to speak with a psychologist, speech therapist, or legal advisor, please reach out through the hotline at +3 8066 56 70 016.
