Training on Child Needs Assessment and Team-Based Response Held in Zaporizhzhia
In January, the NGO “Responsible Citizens” held a training in Zaporizhzhia focused on child needs assessment and team-based response in school and family settings.
These days were not only about methodologies and algorithms. They were about the responsibility of adults to act in the best interests of the child, especially when a child’s life path has been challenging.
During the training, participants worked with an integrated model for assessing the needs of a child and their family — a tool that helps build effective social and educational support. Special attention was paid to cooperation between educational institutions and foster families, guardians, and patronage caregivers.
Twenty-eight specialists have already received practical tools for working with children who require additional support. Another 30 specialists will undergo training in the near future.
This knowledge is particularly important in situations where a child is experiencing a change of family, loss of stability, or difficult life circumstances — when the timeliness of support depends directly on the actions of adults.
The training was conducted within the framework of the UNICEF Ukraine project “Strengthening Community Capacity to Deliver Essential Protection and Resilience Services in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia Regions,” implemented by the NGO “Responsible Citizens” with the support of the Government of the United States of America.
