Representatives of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” took part in a seminar by UNICEF focused on preventing and responding to gender-based violence in the context of recovery in Ukraine
The event brought together specialists and implementing organizations working within the GBV prevention and response programme in Ukraine. It served as a platform to align approaches and discuss joint solutions in the context of wartime and post-war recovery.
Gender-based violence remains one of the issues that is often underestimated in situations of armed conflict. Women and children — particularly in communities affected by active hostilities — do not always have timely access to the support they need. During the seminar, participants focused on practical aspects: how to ensure consistent response standards, how to clearly define roles among stakeholders, and how to track whether assistance effectively reaches those who need it. A joint implementation plan among civil society partners was also further developed.
“For us, it is important not only to gain new knowledge, but also to understand how it works in specific communities. The seminar helped us better identify where gaps in access to support exist and how they can be addressed in a more systematic way,” said Olena Bieloliptseva, Project Manager at the NGO “Responsible Citizens”.
For “Responsible Citizens”, participation in such events is an opportunity to align approaches with partners and better understand how to strengthen support for people who need it.
