Art Therapy for participants of the “Peaceful Summer – For the Children of Donbas” program
The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Headquarters has been implementing the “Peaceful Summer – For the Children of Donbas” project since 2015. Every summer, children aged 8-14 living in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including those along the contact line and in territories temporarily not controlled by Ukraine, can receive vouchers to attend a children’s camp. The project has a health and rehabilitation component, with psychologists and art therapists working with the children. Since the project began, approximately 4,000 children have participated.
The Responsible Citizens NGO became a partner of the “Peaceful Summer – For the Children of Donbas” project in 2018 and 2019. Our specialists conducted art therapy sessions and creative workshops for the project participants. Over the course of two years, sessions were held for more than 1,000 children.
The outcomes of the sessions and workshops included psychological relief for participants, the acquisition of new skills from the workshops, and the creative works of children, which are presented at exhibitions and featured in print and media materials.
