Project “Integrated Community Services for Safer Childhoods and Household Stability”

Responsible Citizens is implementing the project “Integrated Community Services for Safer Childhoods and Household Stability” in partnership with the Polish Humanitarian Action (Polska Akcja Humanitarna, PAH) and with the support of the Government of the United States of America.

The project is aimed at providing comprehensive support to people affected by the war by combining three interconnected components: child protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and cash assistance. This integrated approach makes it possible to respond comprehensively to the needs of children, families, and vulnerable households in frontline communities.

The project is being implemented in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Within the child protection component, the project team provides:

  • group mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for children and families;
  • social case support for families affected by the consequences of the war, traumatic events, and difficult life circumstances;
  • psychological support;
  • individual case management;
  • legal counselling for families receiving social case support.

This component is implemented in the Oleksandrivka and Cherkaska communities of Donetsk Oblast, as well as the Okhtyrka, Trostianets, and Kyrykivka communities of Sumy Oblast.

The cash assistance component includes:

  • Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) for residents of communities located within 0–50 km of the frontline;
  • support for people who have recently been evacuated and are staying in transit centres;
  • assistance for people affected by shelling.

This component is implemented in the Kramatorsk and Novodonetske communities of Donetsk Oblast, the Vorozhba and Kyrykivka communities of Sumy Oblast, as well as in the transit centres in Zaporizhzhia and Pavlohrad.

The project’s objective is to provide timely, integrated support to children, families, and other vulnerable population groups, strengthen their resilience, and help restore their sense of safety, stability, and control over their lives.
