Berehynia Project

Responsible Citizens is implementing the Berehynia Project, aimed at supporting individuals and families who have been most affected by the war and are living in frontline communities across Ukraine.

The project is implemented as part of the Frontline Protection Consortium, bringing together Corus International, the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health “Right to Health” (HealthRight International) in Ukraine, the NGO League of Modern Women, with financial support from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.

Within the project, the Responsible Citizens team provides:

  • Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) to vulnerable households, internally displaced people, and residents living within 0–50 km of the frontline;
  • Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for children and families;
  • Community awareness on child protection risks and available support services;
  • Mobile Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response services, including case management.

To deliver these activities, the project operates six mobile Child Protection and GBV teams, as well as four mobile teams responsible for the registration and follow-up of cash assistance beneficiaries.

The project is implemented in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions of Ukraine. Assistance is provided to people living near the frontline, older people living alone, persons with disabilities, large families, single-parent households, and other vulnerable households facing difficult circumstances.

The project’s objective is to provide timely, integrated support to the most vulnerable people by combining financial assistance, psychosocial support, and protection services. Through this comprehensive approach, the project helps people preserve their dignity, restore a sense of safety, and cope with the consequences of war.
