Partnership for Development: A New Stage of Work with IDPs in Cherkasy Region
The NGO Responsible Citizens joined a meeting of the Council on Internally Displaced Persons under the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration. The meeting was attended by the organization’s Project Manager, Oksana Ivatina.
For our team, this is an important step in building systematic cooperation with regions that host internally displaced persons. Today, Responsible Citizens operates in five frontline regions, supporting people affected by the war. At the same time, we are consistently expanding our presence in communities to which people from eastern Ukraine are relocating.
Cooperation with the IDP Council in Cherkasy region opens up new opportunities for effective planning of this work. The next step will be a comprehensive needs assessment of IDPs in the region, including an analysis of the demographic situation, identification of communities with the highest concentration of displaced people, and the study of current needs. This will make it possible to design support programmes based on real data and community needs.
“For us, it is important to expand the geography of our work with a deep understanding of people’s needs and the potential of communities. Partnership with local institutions enables us to act quickly, in a targeted and strategic way, developing solutions that will have a long-term and sustainable impact,” said Oksana Ivatina.
The next step in developing this cooperation will be the signing of a memorandum between Responsible Citizens and the Council on Internally Displaced Persons under the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration. This will lay the foundation for long-term partnership, strengthen coordination, and create opportunities for implementing support and development programmes in the region.
Partnership, analysis, and joint planning are the foundation for effective solutions and the sustainable development of communities that are currently hosting internally displaced persons.
