“Responsible Citizens” and Acted Launch a Project Providing Cash Assistance to People Affected by the War
The NGO “Responsible Citizens,” in partnership with Acted, is launching a project to provide cash assistance to people affected by the war and forced displacement. The project is implemented with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF) as part of the UNITY — Joint Cash Assistance Programme in Ukraine consortium.
The programme provides cash assistance based on priority criteria to people affected by hostilities, those living in frontline areas, those who have been forced to evacuate, or those who have directly suffered the consequences of shelling.
Assistance will be provided in three areas:
Cash assistance for residents of frontline areas.
The focus is on households living in designated frontline areas of Kharkiv region, with priority given to areas closest to the frontline. In particular, this includes areas within 50 km of the frontline, with priority given to those within 20 km.
Cash assistance for evacuees.
This concerns people and households who have been forced to leave their homes due to hostilities and evacuation. Registration under this area will take place directly at the Kharkiv Transit Centre for people who meet the programme criteria.
Cash assistance for people affected by shelling.
The assistance is intended for households whose homes, property, or living conditions have been directly affected by shelling.
When determining priority, the vulnerability of the household will also be taken into account — in particular, whether children, older people, people with disabilities or limited mobility, pregnant women, or people with serious illnesses live in the household, as well as the impact of the war on the family, among other factors.
It is important to note that the selection mechanism will depend on the type of assistance and the security situation.
Under the assistance programme for residents of frontline areas, activities will take place in designated communities and according to a separate selection mechanism. Assistance for evacuees will be provided through the Kharkiv Transit Centre. Under the assistance programme for people affected by shelling, selection will be based on information about the consequences of attacks and compliance with the programme criteria.
