Child-Friendly Spaces: 13 new support centers open in Dnipropetrovsk Region
The war has turned the lives of millions of Ukrainian families upside down. Forced displacement, stress, and uncertainty affect both adults and children. To support families during this difficult time, the NGO “Responsible Citizens,” together with UNICEF, has opened 13 more child-friendly spaces in the Dnipropetrovsk region—places where people can receive help, care, and a sense of security.
Where are the centers located?
New spaces have opened in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Kamianske, as well as in the villages of Krynychky, Lozuvatka, Buzivka, and Chernechchyna.
What kind of help is available?
Each center offers more than just consultations. Psychologists, speech therapists, lawyers, social workers, and art therapists work here. Specialists help solve specific problems, guiding families through all stages—from emotional and social support to legal and humanitarian issues. And all of this is free of charge for both the local population and internally displaced persons.
“The demand for such spaces is enormous. During the previous project, more than 20,000 people in Dnipropetrovsk region sought support, and this number continues to grow daily. Children find friends here, attend classes and creative workshops, and feel safe. Parents receive real help and answers to important questions. We see how these centers become true resilience hubs for communities, so we continue expanding the network,” says Olga Kosse, Chair of the Board of the NGO “Responsible Citizens.”
In addition to stationary centers, mobile psychosocial support teams operate in these communities. They travel to settlements to support those who cannot reach the centers on their own. This allows us to reach as many people as possible who are in difficult life situations.
