Support for Adolescents in Kharkiv Region: New Skills for Psychologists
NGO Responsible Citizens, together with UNICEF Ukraine, continues to expand its support for specialists working in frontline communities. Our focus is on developing skills that enable professionals to effectively support young people in challenging conditions.
Alona Myronchuk, a psychologist from a Child-Friendly Space in Kharkiv region, took part in a specialized training titled “Building a Positive Life Perspective.” The training, organized by UNICEF Ukraine, is part of a systemic support program for social sector workers in communities that face the ongoing impact of war. This initiative strengthens the capacity of local specialists who help children and adolescents overcome psychological difficulties. Thanks to this knowledge, teenagers experiencing stress and loss of social connections receive quality psychosocial support — one that fosters resilience, confidence, and hope for the future.
“Continuous learning is the foundation of our effectiveness. Modern techniques, up-to-date case studies, and global practices adapted to Ukrainian realities allow us to respond to real needs quickly. Thanks to UNICEF, I am already implementing new approaches — forming a group for adolescents to help families navigate the challenges their teenage children are facing,” said Alona Myronchuk.
Professional development of specialists has always been a cornerstone of sustainable psychosocial support for vulnerable groups.
Since 2023, Responsible Citizens, within a UNICEF project supported by the Government of the United States of America, has been implementing comprehensive support programs in eastern Ukraine. Through the network of Child-Friendly Spaces, psychologists, social workers, art therapists, and speech therapists provide vital assistance to families with children. Every day, we contribute to strengthening the resilience of families living near the front line.
