Inclusive Education Professionals in Zaporizhzhia Explored Modern Approaches to Supporting Children with SEN
A professional meeting for inclusive education specialists took place in Zaporizhzhia, focusing on modern approaches to corrective and developmental work and support for children with special educational needs (SEN).
The training brought together practitioners who work in educational institutions on a daily basis and shape inclusive environments not as a concept, but as an everyday reality. The programme focused on practical tools that can be immediately applied in professional practice, including art-based techniques, neuropsychological exercises, sensory stimulation methods, storytelling, play-based approaches, and augmentative and alternative communication tools.
Participants also explored complex practical cases, including work with childhood aggression, approaches to supporting children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and developmental delays, as well as adapting educational materials and tasks to diverse learning needs. Particular attention was given to integrating corrective approaches into the overall educational process without isolating children from their peer groups. Professional resilience and specialist wellbeing were also highlighted as an important topic.
Such activities strengthen not only individual professionals but also the overall quality of inclusive education through practice, knowledge exchange, and professional collaboration.
The training was held within the framework of the project “Inclusive Education and Individual Support for Children in Zaporizhzhia Region”, implemented by the NGO Responsible Citizens with the support of Save the Children in Ukraine.
