Training as a Tool for Change: Implementing the Strategy to Support Children in Communities
Regional Coordinator of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” Alla Maslakhova joined a training dedicated to the implementation of the Strategy to Ensure Every Child’s Right in Ukraine to Grow Up in a Family Environment.
For our team, this training is a continuation of the systematic work we are implementing in Zaporizhzhia region within the UNICEF Ukraine project. We work with communities to ensure that support for children and families is based on real needs, and that decisions are made in a timely manner and at the local level.
During the training, the focus was placed on practical approaches to implementing the Strategy in communities, strengthening interaction between different services, and identifying solutions that help prevent the institutionalization of children. Particular attention was paid to social service planning and the development of family-based care as the foundation for long-term and sustainable change.
Such trainings help translate the Strategy from policy documents into the daily work of communities — where decisions directly affect the lives of children and families. It is at this level that an environment is created in which a child can remain in a family and receive timely support.
