Zaporizhzhia Resilience Centre is already supporting the community
In June, the NGO Responsible Citizens launched the Resilience Centre in Zaporizhzhia in partnership with UNICEF, local authorities, and social services.
This is a safe, inclusive space where every resident can receive support in difficult times. The Centre’s specialists provide social services, psychosocial support, legal consultations, humanitarian assistance for vulnerable groups, and organize group sessions for children and adolescents.
The Centre is already actively used by local residents — mothers with children, older people, teenagers, and others. Visitors receive consultations and join the activities offered at the space.
“I left feeling not only heard but truly understood. It was important that they took the time to dive into my issue, asked all the right questions, and clearly explained what steps I can take and how my situation might develop. For my family, this is an essential source of confidence that we are not alone. I’m very grateful to the whole team. Next week, I’ll bring my younger children to attend additional stress-relief sessions,” shared Olena, a mother of many children who relocated from Donetsk oblast to Zaporizhzhia last year.
“Already in the first days, we saw how much people truly need this Centre. There were many inquiries right away — from families with children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Requests are diverse — from everyday needs to deeply personal concerns. Our main task is to accompany a person through their situation and help as fully as possible within our scope,” said Nataliia Em, Resilience Centre’s Social Manager.
The Centre was established with financial support from the German Government through the KfW Development Bank and UNICEF Ukraine. Resilience Centres are an initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy within the national mental health programme “How are you?” initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
🕘 The Resilience Centre operates Monday through Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00, and on Friday until 16:45.
