Safe space for children in Malynivka: Restoring the community through support
In the Malynivka community of Kharkiv region, which suffered from the full-scale invasion, NGO “Responsible Citizens” together with UNICEF Ukraine created a child-friendly Space. This place has become a pillar for children and families, helping to overcome fear and losses.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, life in Malynivka has changed dramatically. Closed kindergartens and schools, isolation, constant anxieties and fear have become the daily reality for residents. The community lost its usual rhythm, but its heart — the people — needs support and help for recovery.
NGO “Responsible Citizens” in partnership with UNICEF Ukraine implemented a project to create a safe, child-friendly Space. Here, young residents can adapt to new conditions, and their families can receive the necessary assistance. The Space offers art therapy for emotional relief, psychologist consultations to overcome traumas, reliable shelter during alerts, and thematic events that promote socialization.
This initiative is not just a place for leisure, but a true point of support for those who have experienced severe losses. Thanks to such projects, the community is gradually returning to normal life, restoring trust and stability.
“Thanks to such projects, the number of families in difficult life circumstances has decreased,” notes Yevhen Chudnyi, deputy head of the settlement military administration.
Community recovery begins with caring for the most vulnerable — children and their families. Spaces like the one in Malynivka not only help survive the crisis but also give birth to new hope and trust. NGO “Responsible Citizens” continues its work to ensure every community has such support.
