Child-Friendly Space Opens in Piatykhatky
We started the week with great news. In Dnipropetrovsk region, the NGO “Responsible Citizens” has opened its 28th Child-Friendly Space in a joint project with UNICEF in Ukraine.
The opening of this children’s leisure and relief center responds to numerous requests from parents. Currently, over 1,500 families with children, displaced from the Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions, reside in Piatykhatky. However, we emphasize that the Space is open to all local community families.
“Our main goal is to provide a full range of psycho-emotional relief services for families, organize beneficial leisure activities in a safe environment, and assist with social services, legal consultations, and, upon request, invite a speech therapist. Psychologists and art therapists work here on a permanent basis. We have systematically analyzed the needs of residents in small communities and, based on our experience, strive to meet the urgent needs of families,” says Alla Maslakhova, regional project coordinator of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” in Dnipropetrovsk region.
At the opening of the new Child-Friendly Space, we organized a small celebration for all new visitors with entertainment and even the opportunity to create sand art.
“We left home last year with my mom and grandma. I used to attend extra classes before. Now, we only occasionally play in the yard. I didn’t bring my toys; grandma says we can’t take them yet. But she promises we will definitely come here so I can learn new games,” says 7-year-old Dmytro from Kherson region, who attended the opening of the Space with his grandmother.
