Project to overcome educational gaps completed: what we achieved
NGO Responsible Citizens, in partnership with the government of the Faroe Islands, has completed a project aimed at addressing educational gaps among primary and secondary school students in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. This project was vital for children and adolescents who were unable to properly absorb the school curriculum due to the pandemic, the full-scale invasion, security issues, relocation, changes in educational institutions, and power outages.
Key results of the project:
- 1,400 educational sessions were conducted across various subjects, including mathematics (292), Ukrainian history (300), Ukrainian language (203), and others.
- A total of 420 children participated in the sessions, including 30 students with disabilities and 86 children with special educational needs.
- There was a 32% improvement in knowledge retention, as evidenced by diagnostic assessments.
- Training sessions for 40 teachers were organized, equipping them with modern methodologies for implementation in their schools.
- 2 memorandums of cooperation were signed with educational institutions in Kryvyi Rih and Marganets.
- A unique feature of the project was the introduction of multidisciplinary lessons involving speech therapists and defectologists. This approach allowed students with disabilities not only to master the material but also to receive corrective support during classes.
“We believe that every child has the right to quality education, regardless of circumstances. Thanks to the support of our partners, we created the conditions necessary for children to learn and grow. Feedback from parents and teachers proves that such projects transform families’ lives, improve children’s ability to pass assessments, and, for senior students, provide opportunities to choose higher education and pursue their dream careers,” said Olga Kosse, Chair of the Board of NGO Responsible Citizens.
This project was made possible through funding from the government of the Faroe Islands, as well as the support of local communities. Together, we are building a future where every child has the chance to realize their potential.
