NGO “Responsible Citizens” at the Regional Forum “Every Day for Children”
The Regional Forum “Every Day for Children” took place for the first time in Dnipro, bringing together over 250 participants — representatives of authorities, local governments, child protection services, international and civil society organizations, and law enforcement.
The forum became an important platform for discussing the child protection system, the development of family-based care, and the challenges faced by communities during wartime.
Dnipropetrovsk region remains a national leader in the number of family-type children’s homes — over 180. This year alone:
▪️ 66 orphans and children deprived of parental care have been adopted;
▪️ nearly 400 children have been placed under guardianship;
▪️ 32 foster families and 13 family-type children’s homes have been created.
All children evacuated from institutions have already found families.
The NGO “Responsible Citizens” presented their experience supporting families and developing family-based care as part of a UNICEF-supported project. We work with communities to create child-friendly spaces, provide psychosocial support, and assist foster families, guardians, and caregivers.
Together with UNICEF, the regional administration, and other partners, we consistently develop approaches that help children grow up in safe and caring environments.
“Over the past six months, we’ve provided psychosocial support to more than 10,000 children and their parents in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Thanks to mobile teams, our staff works daily in communities — with both local families and internally displaced persons. We create child-friendly spaces and involve psychologists, social workers, lawyers, speech therapists, and defectologists. This is holistic support that gives families the resources for recovery and confidence in tomorrow,” says Alla Maslakhova, coordinator of NGO “Responsible Citizens.”
The NGO will continue working where support is needed the most — with families raising children in difficult circumstances and alongside those who give children a chance for a safe, dignified, and happy childhood.
