A Family from Kharkiv Received Comprehensive Assistance and Support for Their Children’s Education
The NGO “Responsible Citizens,” in partnership with Save the Children, supported the family through a project implemented with financial support from the U.S. Government.
“Mom, take the money from my piggy bank. I just want to keep going to my classes,” her mother, Anastasiia*, recalls Myroslava* saying.
Because of the war, the family left Kharkiv, leaving behind their home and jobs. This had a significant impact on the well-being of both of Anastasiia’s* children. In particular, the severe stress caused Myroslava* to develop a cough that lasted for almost two years.
“The hardest thing is the lack of a full-fledged education and childcare system. Financial instability makes life much harder, when even small problems can turn into major crises,” Anastasiia* says.
Save the Children, together with its partner, the NGO “Responsible Citizens,” provided the family with comprehensive assistance. With financial support, the family was able to purchase food, hygiene products, and essential household items. Furniture for Myroslava’s* studies was also purchased.
The children began attending activities at a Child-Friendly Space currently operating in Kharkiv region with financial support from the U.S. Government. The girl and her younger brother also began attending speech therapy sessions.
“When you go without support for a long time and then it finally comes — it changes everything. I realized that we are not alone in this world. Even if it seems that your situation is not the worst, you still need help when you are going through difficulties,” Anastasiia* says.
