Kristina Vasilyuk Recognized for Her Contribution to Youth Policy Development

The Communications Manager at Responsible Citizens received an award from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine in recognition of her longstanding work with youth initiatives.

Kristina Vasilyuk received the award from Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The award recognizes her contribution to the development of youth policy and her work to engage young people in civic life.

Kristina has worked in the field of youth policy for more than five years. Her work focuses on creating opportunities for young people to participate in decision-making, implement their own initiatives, and represent the interests of their communities.

Kristina Vasilyuk currently chairs the Youth Council under the Kostiantynivka City Council and serves as an Adviser to the Head of the Kostiantynivka City Military Administration on Youth Affairs. She is also a member of the Youth Council under the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Regional Youth Congress.

Through these roles, Kristina helps represent young people’s perspectives at the local, regional, and national levels, while also contributing to international initiatives. Her key areas of work include strengthening youth participation in local governance, supporting youth-led initiatives, and advocating for the interests of young people.

Alongside her civic and youth policy work, Kristina is a Communications Manager at Responsible Citizens, where she leads the organization’s communications. For the organization, work with young people is part of its broader engagement with communities affected by the war.

In particular, Responsible Citizens implements educational programmes aimed at helping children and young people catch up on learning, prepare for further education, and develop practical professional skills. These programmes help young people maintain access to education and create opportunities for their continued professional development, even in wartime.

Kristina’s experience in youth policy and the work of Responsible Citizens share a common focus: creating opportunities for young people to become active participants in the life of their communities, rather than simply recipients of assistance or services.

For communities affected by the war and forced to adapt to new challenges, meaningful youth participation is particularly important. Engaging young people in decision-making, supporting their initiatives, and ensuring access to education help create the conditions for the long-term recovery and development of communities.
