September 21 — International Day of Peace
In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming September 21 as the International Day of Peace. The date is intended to draw attention to the need to preserve peace and build a society where people can live free from fear and violence.
Peace can mean different things to different people: safety, a home, the opportunity to study, work and grow, to be close to loved ones, or to have a community of like-minded people.
For Ukrainians today, it primarily means living without the constant threat, being able to plan for the future, stay close to loved ones and continue with everyday life.
That is why supporting people who have found themselves in difficult circumstances because of the war is an important part of the daily work of the “Responsible Citizens” NGO. We help families, children and adults access the services they need and find available resources and opportunities for recovery and development.
Peace has many dimensions. But its value is the same for everyone.

In reality, however, the hardest part often begins after the explosion—shock, disorientation, and the loss of a sense of safety. It is at this moment that the mobile teams of the NGO Responsible Citizens deploy to support people in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
