Improving the Quality of Child Reintegration Services in Communities
Regional Coordinator Alla Maslakhova and specialists from the NGO Responsible Citizens in Zaporizhzhia region took part in a UNICEF Ukraine workshop dedicated to the implementation of the Guiding Principles for the Reintegration Service Package within the Alternative Care and Return and Reintegration programs.
The event focused on presenting a draft of methodological recommendations, discussing practical aspects of their implementation, and harmonizing approaches to reintegrating children into family environments. Special attention was given to collecting feedback from organizations that directly work with families and children.
Our team shared the experience of implementing the Better Care program in the Zaporizhzhia region, within which four family-type children’s homes have already been supported, enabling the reintegration of 15 children. The program covers the full cycle of support — from the decision to receive children to their successful integration and adaptation in new families.
During the workshop, participants exchanged experiences in implementing practices across different regions and discussed ways to improve service systems for children and families returning to community life.
