Building the team for Zaporizhzhia’s first Resilience Center
The NGO “Responsible Citizens”, with the support of UNICEF in Ukraine, is forming the team of Zaporizhzhia’s first-ever Resilience Center — a space where everyone can receive support, overcome crisis, and find the strength to move forward. To prepare professionals for real-life challenges, a series of meaningful and practical trainings has been organized.
The training topics include: social work with families and children, case management, positive parenting, psychological support, first aid, leadership, volunteering, response to domestic and sexual violence, work with veterans, development of stress resilience, bereavement support, and more.
The most valuable asset of the Center is its people — a team that works with care, respect, and a genuine desire to help. They are already talking about change that starts from within:
“During the training with ‘Responsible Citizens’, I realized the most important thing: change begins with me. My biggest insight was that even on my own, I can be an active part of a community. I remember clearly: responsibility is not about big gestures, but about the consistency of small actions. It was incredibly valuable not just to listen, but to share, to feel support, and to be in an environment where your voice is respected,” — says Svitlana.
Participants say the training gave them not just knowledge, but also support, helped them unite as a team, recognize their strengths, and see how to act effectively. Nadiia adds:
“Thank you to ‘Responsible Citizens’ for giving me the opportunity to grow as a specialist, for guidance, individual approach, and respectful treatment of each of us.”
The Resilience Center is more than just a place. It’s a team that builds trust, support, and the strength of the community. It’s thanks to such people that resilience becomes possible.
The trainings are part of the UNICEF project “Strengthening the capacity of communities to provide core protection and resilience services in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions”, implemented by the NGO “Responsible Citizens”.
