September 1 marks the launch of a new project by Responsible Citizens NGO in collaboration with the Government of the Faroe Islands
The new initiative aims to address educational losses among students in eastern Ukraine who have been unable to fully engage with their curricula. The project targets children who have had to switch schools multiple times due to relocations, lack of communication, and other challenges related to ongoing military actions.
This project will cater to children aged 6 to 17, enabling them to catch up on core subjects from early years through to graduation.
The program will be implemented in Kryvyi Rih and Marganets in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Due to security concerns, sessions will be conducted both offline and online, with groups not exceeding six children at a time. To mitigate educational losses and provide additional support, 40 teachers and educators will be involved, covering subjects such as mathematics, Ukrainian and English languages, as well as biology, chemistry, and history for students from grade 8.
The project will also include training for educators aimed at enhancing professional skills in humanitarian contexts.
“Our new project is a crucial component of the comprehensive educational work we are undertaking in eastern Ukraine. Recognizing the severe impact on the education system from the pandemic and subsequent challenges, we understand the importance of providing children not just with a chance to catch up, but with high-quality knowledge that will lay a strong foundation for their future learning. We hope this project will assist many children in resuming their education and successfully completing their school years even under such difficult conditions,” emphasized Olha Kosse, Chair of the Responsible Citizens NGO.
The project is fully funded by the Government of the Faroe Islands and will run for four months.
