Strengthening community capacity: the team of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” joined a training on supporting children and families
Specialists from the team of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast took part in a training aimed at strengthening practical skills for working with children and families living in communities affected by explosive ordnance.
The training focused on the topic “Practical approaches to supporting children and families in communities affected by explosive ordnance (EO).” During the training, participants explored the legal frameworks for providing assistance to children, the basics of Psychological First Aid (PFA), and a trauma-informed approach. Particular attention was paid to service mapping, mechanisms of intersectoral interaction at the community level, as well as practical steps toward the inclusion of children who have experienced trauma as a result of exposure to explosive ordnance.
The training was conducted by the International Rescue Committee with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine. The knowledge and tools gained will form the basis for the further systematic work of the NGO “Responsible Citizens” team with children and families in war-affected communities, taking into account the principles of safety, protection, and intersectoral coordination.
