NGO “Responsible Citizens” has completed a project phase in partnership with JERU – Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine.
rom September to December 2025, the NGO “Responsible Citizens” implemented a project phase within the partnership with JERU — a joint initiative of the international organizations Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The project activities were aimed at supporting the population affected by the war, with a focus on meeting basic needs, preparing for the winter period, and providing psychosocial support.
Key project results:
✔️ 1,197 households received multipurpose cash assistance to cover basic needs;
✔️ 773 households received assistance to ensure heating during the cold season;
✔️ 44 group information sessions were conducted on mental health, psychosocial support, protection, and available services in this area — for 637 adult programme participants;
✔️ group psychological support sessions were conducted for 1,539 children and 479 adults;
✔️ 279 individual psychological consultations were provided for children and adults.
In 2025, within the framework of the partnership with JERU, the organization expanded the geography of its activities and began work in Sumy Oblast.
Oksana Ivatina, Project Coordinator in Sumy Oblast, notes:
“Systematic assistance in frontline communities is impossible without sustainable partnerships and accumulated expertise. It was precisely thanks to cooperation with JERU in 2025 that we were able to expand our presence and begin work in Sumy Oblast. Our experience of providing assistance in crisis conditions since 2014 became the basis for building a comprehensive support model — combining cash assistance, winterization support, and psychosocial assistance. In the context of a prolonged war, psychological support is not an additional component but a necessary condition for recovery: it helps families stabilize and gradually restore their ability to make further decisions.”
In view of the current security and humanitarian situation in the region, the implementation of the project has been extended until June 2026.
