Empowering Communities: NGO ‘Responsible Citizens’ and World Vision International Educate Over 15,000 in Ukraine

In partnership with UNICEF Ukraine, the NGO “Responsible Citizens” worked simultaneously with several groups: children who had experienced traumatic events, parents who had lost their support resources, and community professionals who themselves were living under constant stress.

The first stage of application submission is complete, and we sincerely thank everyone who showed interest in our initiative. The number and quality of applications have truly impressed us — so many scholars, teachers, and professionals in the field are ready to join efforts to improve Ukraine’s education system.

The teams of the NGO Responsible Citizens work in areas where the social burden increases every day. This is where Child-Friendly Spaces and mobile psychosocial support teams operate most actively. In the first half of 2025, nearly 10,000 children and their families received professional support.

The work is carried out within the framework of the UNICEF Ukraine project “Strengthening Community Capacity to Deliver Essential Protection and Resilience Services in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions,” implemented by the NGO “Responsible Citizens” with the support of the Government of the United States of America

During the visit, the Head of the UNICEF Ukraine Office, Munir Mammadzade, together with colleagues, visited a Child-Friendly Space implemented within the framework of a joint project with UNICEF, where they met with specialists of mobile teams.

We built partnerships, strengthened communities, and supported grassroots initiatives. All of this became possible thanks to our partners, donors, skilled and responsible team, and community trust.

Ten-year-old Daria from Kharkiv Oblast adores drawing. For her, art is a way to express feelings and find balance. In one of our video, she shared her biggest dream—to meet her mentor, the artist Lana Ra.
