Responsible Citizens team completes safety training on short-range drones

Responsible Citizens NGO is launching a new project in partnership with JERU – a joint initiative of the international organizations Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide. The project is funded by the UHF.

In the Kharkiv region, there are currently seven Child-Friendly Spaces created within a UNICEF project with financial support from USAID.

Olga Kosse, Head of the Board of Responsible Citizens NGO, took part in the event “Building Back Better for Ukraine: Business, Children’s Rights and Long-Term Resilience” organised by Rädda Barnen (Save the Children) and Forever Sustainable with the participation of Sida – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, international partners and representatives of major Swedish businesses.

Our team conducted anonymous surveys on social media to better understand how prepared people from communities near the front line are for a potential escalation. More than 720 people took part. According to the survey results, 67% of respondents said they do not have the financial means to rent housing in case of evacuation.

In February 2026, Responsible Citizens NGO, in partnership with Acted and with the support of the US Government, launched a humanitarian cash assistance programme for families affected by the war in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Donetsk regions.

Even in wartime, the family continues to care for their children with warmth and dedication. “I want my children to be happy. Even during the war,” says foster mother Liudmyla.

In eastern Ukraine, especially in frontline areas of Donetsk region, shelling is intensifying and civilian infrastructure is being heavily damaged. Under these conditions, mobile teams from the NGO Responsible Citizens are working directly in affected communities, offering comprehensive support to those who need it most.

Free sessions with a psychologist, speech therapist, and art therapist, offered by the NGO “Responsible Citizens,” gave the family the support they desperately needed. These efforts helped the children adapt to their new circumstances, with little Bohdana making remarkable progress in her speech.
