A child protection, psychosocial support and cash assistance project launches in four regions of Ukraine
Responsible Citizens is launching a new project together with the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) and with the support of the United States Government in four regions where protection needs remain critical.
The project, “Integrated Community Services for Safer Childhoods and Household Stability”, will cover Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. It combines three interconnected components: child protection, psychosocial support and cash assistance.
The child protection component includes group psychosocial work with families with children. Our social workers and psychologists will also provide case management support to families that have experienced significant stress and risks. Within this component, families receiving support will also have access to legal counselling. This component of the project will be implemented in the Oleksandrivska and Cherkaska hromadas of Donetsk oblast, as well as in the Okhtyrska, Trostianetska and Kyrykivska hromadas of Sumy oblast.
A separate component of the project is cash assistance for different categories of war-affected populations. Assistance payments will be delivered through three targeted streams: for residents of frontline communities within the 0–50 km zone, for newly evacuated people in transit centres, and for people affected by shelling. The programme is planned to cover the Kramatorska and Novodonetska hromadas of Donetsk oblast, the Vorozhbianska and Kyrykivska hromadas of Sumy oblast, as well as the transit centres of Zaporizhzhia and Pavlohrad.
“Effective humanitarian assistance today requires an integrated approach. By combining child protection, psychosocial support and cash assistance, we are creating a support system that responds to the real challenges faced by frontline communities and helps people restore a sense of stability and control over their own lives,” said Enrique Menendez, Director of Projects and Programmes at Responsible Citizens.
