A training for social workers took place in Kharkiv: new knowledge for supporting people
In Kharkiv, social workers from various parts of the Kharkiv region—Sakhnovshchyna, Zachepylivka, and Pivdenne—participated in a two-day training to enhance their skills and address the challenges posed by the war.
Specialists from mobile teams and Child-Friendly Spaces learned to provide support to victims of gender-based violence, work confidentially and safely, considering the age, needs, and priorities of individuals.
Significant attention was given to practical skills: case management, negotiations, overcoming stigma toward certain population groups, and self-care. A special focus was placed on aligning work with the quality standards of the National Social Service of Ukraine and international practices.
Among the participants were both specialists with one year of experience and those who have worked in social services for over 30 years. They were united by a common need—continuous learning and quality preparation, as working conditions constantly change, requiring rapid adaptation.
“When a social worker acts competently, ethically, and with respect, people receive not just a service but dignified support,” noted Olena Belolipetsva, coordinator of educational projects at the NGO “Responsible Citizens.”
This training is a vital component in improving collaboration between the NGO “Responsible Citizens” and the UNICEF Representation for the further implementation of joint projects.
