Strengthening the social sector through training: Trainer-of-Trainers Program concludes in Uzhhorod
Six days of intensive learning, experience exchange, and professional growth — the first Trainer-of-Trainers program for developing the competencies of Ukrainian social workers has concluded in Uzhhorod. Together with the National Social Service of Ukraine and UNICEF Ukraine, and with the support of the Government of Sweden, NGO Responsible Citizens joined a vital initiative aimed at reinforcing Ukraine’s social service sector during crisis.
The training program, developed by the Columbia University School of Social Work in partnership with UNICEF and adapted to the Ukrainian context, covered a range of key topics — from core professional competencies and understanding gender-based violence, to ethical conduct, active listening, and human-centered service design. Participants built practical skills in communication, facilitation, supervision, and community engagement to better support those most in need.
“Learning is a continuous process — especially during an education crisis, where professionals continue to teach others despite the pressures of turbulent times. Our social workers are agents of change who support vulnerable communities daily. That is why continuous training and skills development is our priority,” said Olena Bieloliptseva, education program coordinator at Responsible Citizens.
This training is only the beginning. Thanks to UNICEF Ukraine and our partners, we are laying a strong foundation for sustainable social services in Ukraine — where everyone has the right to support and protection. We thank the participants for their dedication and commitment to passing on their knowledge. Together, we are building a stronger society.
