Masha is an internally displaced person from Opytnoye village, she is living together with her granny in Avdeevka city. She is disabled from her childhood. When she was four, her father was carrying her on his shoulders and accidently dropped her. She hit her head and since then she is having problems in development.
- Hi, my name is Masha, and I am mentally deprived child. But don’t be prejudiced, I like to read very much, I am studying on my own, I am writing – and my granny examines me. But I don’t like mathematics, and I can count only till 10. I help my granny in the kitchen, I can even cook. We are sorry for our poor look but there is nothing left from our previous life… Have you brought any books for me? – 25 years’ old girl asks us.
It is very modest and empty around, except the flanker and one-roomed small house there is nothing else.
- This is all we managed to take with us, - Tatyana says to us, pointing on the pillow and a pair of shoes. - Other things was provided to us by our new neighbors and kind people. Everything we had was left there, at home. Specifically, there is nothing left – the house was diminished, - the woman adds not loudly.
Masha have started to live with her granny in Opytnoye village since she was 5 years old, when the problem in her development started to be obvious. Masha’s parents have two more children, who needed to be raised. No one of them payed necessary attention to Masha, everyone was occupied with money earning. Now her parents with other children are living in Makeevka, they don’t support any connection with Masha. All these years her grandmother was raising her making little of drifts which Masha has, she hoped that it will disappear with age, that she will overgrow everything. Twenty years have gone but the problem was not solved.
Now, to support the mental activity of the young woman there is needed a list of medicines, the cost of which exaggerates social payments on disability and pension of Tatyana. This is the only sources of income that feeds them.
In the nearest future there also appear a critical situation with heating, because they will require winter fuel, but all the trees nearby are already deforested.
This time we have brought books, fairytales, developing guide, didactic material, for which separate thanks to Anychka Derevyanko, and for the provided clothes we are grateful to the Nadia Petryk.
Our organization will continue to support this family. Firstly, they should be provided with the coal. The 1 ton of coal costs 3 500 UAH, and they require 3 of them to cover the need for the whole winter. The total amount needed 10 500 UAH.
We will appreciate everyone’s participation in those two women lives.
